how to find out if i have an actual "iroc"
I just bought an 84' and the guy keeps calling it an iroc, the title says its a 1984, and i know chevy first started makeing the iroc's in 85... so.. that leads me to the question, is this possable?
It says z28 on the rear bumper, but there are no "iroc" decals on the doors, just z28 everywhere, i know the iroc code is b4z, but im not sure where to look for it, and even if i understand that correctly, am i getting z28 confused with iroc, or what, whats the difference? I just want to know if i can rightfully call it in iroc and how i go about confirming its an iroc... Thanks guys |

Re: how to find out if i have an actual "iroc"
your getting z28 confused with IROC...starting in 85 they were IROC z28's before that just plain z28's...same with the 91 and 92's there just z28's

Re: how to find out if i have an actual "iroc"
The IROC wasn't avialable until Feb 1985....anything made before that was just a Z-28. The RPO codes are on a sticker inside the glovebox.
If the guy that sold you the car really thnks it is an IROC...he is an Idiot and should be treated as such. The difference between an IROC and a Z-28 is very hard to see. But the difference between an 84 Z-28 and an IROC is easy to spot..the tail lights..The IROC's were in a "grid" pattern (1985 was the first year for the grid tail lights IROC and Z-28) An IROC sits 1/2" lower than a Z-28 of the same year, they came with 16" wheels, Bilstein shocks and struts and a VERY tight ratio steering box Also the IROC had a 5500 RPM redline tach, while the Z had a 5k RPM redline. |

Re: how to find out if i have an actual "iroc"
84 is not an iroc, just a plain old Z28. IROC became an option for the Z28 in early 85 (option code B4Z 85-87).

Re: how to find out if i have an actual "iroc"
Are you sure it's an 84? Actually had a car (can't remember which one...) that everyone had listed as the wrong year. It was a vin issue... somehow they all got a wrong digit someplace... which was really dumb because I typed and faxed the number to the insurance company and all. The only number that was right was on the original title from the other state.
Also, if you look at the number of people on Ebay that have no clue what they are selling, or are just trying to cover up dishonesty with perceived stupidity, it's really astonishing. You can probably pick up at least 5 listing for a 70 camaro where it's really a 71-73. |

Re: how to find out if i have an actual "iroc"
That is clearly not a IROC nor anything '85 and up. The "skriting" was entirely different on the 82-84 z28. Lastly would be the dash emblem would read IROC as well.

Re: how to find out if i have an actual "iroc"
from what i've experienced, people that are not f-body enthusiests like the majority of us here, refer to all 3rd gen's as "iroc's". If only i had a nickel for everytime some local would ask me "hey, do you still have that iroc?"
