94 Grand Am Headlights

The headlights on my Grand Am dont come on. If I hold the Switch back the brights come on but go back off when I let go. Any Ideas?

Re: 94 Grand Am Headlights

You should have seperate bulbs for High and Low beams.
Low beams being the outer bulbs and High beams being the inner.

Sounds like either both Lowbeams are burnt out, not seated properly, or there is a short in the wiring.

Start by checking that the bulbs are good. You should need 9006 bulbs.

Re: 94 Grand Am Headlights

If your high beams don't come on either when you cycle the switch, I'd start with the switch. I had a similar problem a few years ago, low's wouldn't come back on, ended up being a bad switch, cost around $30 if I remember correctly, wasn't too difficult to change and the steering wheel doesn't need to come off.
