First model completed - Raybrig NSX '98
This is the first model I completed after a long break, the last time I built a model was about 10 years ago( messing around really).
![]() ![]() Somehow one day I just felt like build a scale model aagin so I picked this up LOL. I've already collected a huge number of kits, which is probably going to take me years to complete (is kits hording a common desease for model builders? )I've completed this NSX about a month ago, only got around to upload the pics today. To be honest I made a pretty big mess of it (not that obvious from the pics for some reason), the paint job had some bad orange peel and runs (I stripped it twice, still no good). and then when I tried to polish it out I lost some paint from the body work (panel lines, edges etc). The decal probably saved the model, with a complex pattern the bad paint is not too obvious. I've since completed a mark Mark IV Toyota Celica which went a little bit better than the NSX, I've just started on a Xanavi 350Z JGTC, hopefully with each model I build I will get a little better and can get results similar to you guys one day, cheers! P.S> how many kits did it take you guys to practice before such great results? |

Re: First model completed - Raybrig NSX '98
Your model looks good! I remember my first ever car model was the Tamiya Ford Escort Cosworth in the Repsol colours,a total disaster as I recall. There were too many decals to fit to complex curves etc.It ended up in the bin!! I vowed never to do another car model and stick to aeroplanes which I used to build all the time.I tried again though and now only really build car models and the odd motorbike.Practice makes perfect!!

I think it turned out pretty good too, very nice looking model. I also seem to get more models faster then I can build them. With problems like orange peel and such, I also went with airplanes for years but lately I have been building only car models. And I'm still practising to get those great results I see in some of the models on AF. Hope to see more cars from you.

As a new guy to the forums, I'll say your car came out looking pretty nice. Hopefully I can get some pics posted of my builds before too long. Thanks "Q"

Re: First model completed - Raybrig NSX '98
looks good from the pics, no way of telling there's a problem with the paintwork!
as they say, practice makes perfect, and once you master the basic techniques, then it'll all fall into place... although i'm still trying to master the basics myself! :P kit hoarding is not an uncommon problem, i've found myself picking up a few kits when i'm out thinking "i'll get stuck into these tomorrow", but never quite get around to doing them! so i'm currently working on my backlog of kits... it's not a bad thing, sometimes you find yourself stuck for something to do then remember that old kit sitting in the cupboard waiting to be built! |
