Re-Wiring... Confused

I'm in the middle of running the new wires from the fuse box, and everything seems to be going ok, but when I got to the Dome Light, there's an orange (hot) and white wire (neutral) already there, the new harness only has the orange wire.

So I looked at everything else, and either I'm not understanding something, or the harness I bought is complete crap. There are no neutral runners to complete the circuits, all that is there is the feed (hot) wires for each device.

So am I supposed to run my OWN neutral wires, leave the existing wires in place, or am I not understanding something?

Also: I have a wire that's supposed to run from the gas tank to the fuse panel, then another is run to the dash gauge, same color and number. Where does the wire for the gas tank go... I was up under there looking around, and can't see any wires going into the tank ANYPLACE (through the trunk, around the tank, nothing). I thought that 70 camaro's had mechanical fuel level gauges. If so, how in the hell do I hook this up?

THANK YOU!

There are no "neutral" wires in a DC circuit, only AC. The harness you have is just the hot wire because you are supposed to run the negative wire (uour own wie) from the light assembly to a suitable ground.

The fuel sender is electrical and the wiring should be going into the tank from the top.

Thanks, that clears up alot for me.

But about the fuel sender wire... Do I have to drop the tank to run the new wire? Does that typically go through the trunk and into the tank? (That's why I can't find the wire when looking at the tank from under the car?)

Follow the fuel lines coming from the tank, there should be a wire in there with them with a connector on it. If not, you'll have to drop the tank to get a look at it and see what you need to do to hook it up.
