CAI in!

Thanks to everyone that recommended CAIs for me I bought a CAI from ChromeIntakes on Ebay, installed it (took me a long time because im a noob, but a friend or two helped me yesterday and today), and it sounds and looks awesome! I can't really tell if it adds any boost to hp or accel or not... but i suppose with a 99 grand am SE that's been 167,000 miles it's going to be hard to notice TOO much...

It was a pain in the ass getting the battery back in, but it's all done! YAY!

Re: CAI in!

oh it certainly sounds more badass I just don't know if I notice the acceleration boost or not yet... then again i cant turn my AC off for very long without melting myself, and my tires totally need replaced, and i need an oil change, and i use regular unleaded gas... etc etc lol.

Re: CAI in!

I'll post them up once I get off of work and have time. It was such a tight squeeze... my battery is practically denting the chrome intake bar because it's rammed against it, and the filter itself is pressed against my wheel well to where you can see a bulge in the plastic, but it still looks wonderful! I also took vids of me revving the engine so you can hear it in it's beauty

Now I want to upgrade more and I really don't want to spend that kind of money!!! Now I know where everyone gets it from LOL

I might just buy a better car first before I do it. I'd like an AWD vehicle to do that with, like an eagle talon tsi w/ a DSM or a mitsubishi 3000gt vr-4 (the latter being more expensive but more desired).

Who knows I <3 driving more now... I even ordered a pizza carryout just so I could have fun with my new intake

Re: CAI in!

You must hav a Huge battery!

Mine fits well, though I did put some sticky gasket sealer on the intake tune inside the fender to keep the cone filter from falling off.

The one I hav on my SE used to fall off, got it wet a couple of times driving through deep water : dont know what I was thinking :/
