Powermaster Alternators

Xeroinfinity or GTPdad since you both seem to be the goto guys for information, what are your thoughts on the Powermaster Alternators?

http://s10planet.performancecenter.c...mber_PRM48137/

The stock alternator that is in the car now was already repaired once by the previous owner. I am thinking of replacing it, and upgrading the amps. At minimum i will replace it with a stock oem.

I probably don't need the 140 amps as my stereo, sirius unit, and 2way radio are powered just fine, although i may add more accesories in the future. Moneywise though, minus the core charge from Autozone or napa etc for a replacement... The powermaster is about $1 per amp. Seems like a good bang for the buck over oem.

Thoughts, opinions?

Cad

Re: Powermaster Alternators

that 140amps would be at the high rpms.
Its only 80amps at idle. So it should average 120ish.

It doesnt look bad,Looks like a Delco, probly cheaper than Napa too.
But it might add up after shipping the heavy bugger.

the stock ALT are around 100-105amps.
Most I replace with a 110-125amp depending on what been added.

I buy most of mine from some who I know who rebuilds alt/starters all day long. that would suck

So I'd try and get one at least 110amps, and one 120amps if you are going to be adding big Amps and speakers, AV equipment.

Over All that Powermaster does look like a good deal, just make sure it has a good 1-2yr warnty, and how much it is to ship that heavy thing.

Just looked over at NAPA thiers are $130-180 depending on what engine.
Wasnt sure if your 93' was a 4 or 6 cylinder.

Re: Powermaster Alternators

I agree with Xeroinfinity. You probably will never need that much power regardless of the amount of accessories you add. Actually most ambulances use 140 amp alternators and they have a lot more power requirements than any car would ever have.
