Question Firing order of a 2002 v6 Impala

What is the firing order of a 2002 V6 Impala? Upon changing plugs and wires, my new son in law forgot to label? I dare not suggest the same as a 2003, being so simple to rememeber, for fear I'll mess him up!

Re: Firing order of a 2002 v6 Impala

All the firing orders should be the same.

I know for the 3.8.

Front bank, from left to right (passenger side to driver side) is 1, 3, 5
Rear bank, fro, left to right (passenger side to driver side) is 2, 4, 6.

The coils should be labeled, if the numbers are worn off they are:

top coil: 6 on top/left, 3 on bottom/right
Middle coil: 2 on top/left, 5 on bottom/right
Bottom coil: 4 on top/left, 1 on bottom/right

Re: Firing order of a 2002 v6 Impala

Bigrod is correct on the 3.8 above, however firing order for the 3400 V6 is as follows:

Firing order is: 1-2-3-4-5-6

coil pack Left to right 5-2 3-6 4-1

rear bank left to right 1-3-5
front bank left to right 2-4-6

This is also the same for the 3.1 liter which the 3400 replaced...

The firing order listed for the 3.1/3.4 is correct, however, for a 3800 it is:

1-6-5-4-3-2

Thanks everyone for the help! I just found this site and will be sure to keep posting questions and comments in the future.
I drive a 2004 saturn ION 3 coupe, with the suicide doors, and love it. Best car I have ever had. Of course it does not come close to my dream car, a classic Mustang. Around the mid 60's, Red and of course, convertable.

Thanks again!!

Good catch Bnaylor! I didn't notice that Bigrod118 didn't have the 3.8 firing order listed. I have the diagrams for both engines but failed to figure how to post. Have available to e-mail if anyone wants to give it go.

Yeah, I didn't know the firing order, I just figure if the wires are in the correct place, it won't matter what order they fire in.
