Got A New 06 Town & Country

Still have my 2000 GC 3.3 114K on it, has yet to use a drop of oil. Had a 2005 Impala, but the seats just killed my back after about 3-4 hrs on the highway. Finally traded it(only had 14K miles)for a 2006 T&C. I knew the Chrysler minivans have good seats. Wanted a 3.3 GC but with one exception, they only had them in the short wheel base. Ended up with a 3.8 T&C. Hope it is as good an engine as the 3.3. They did have one 3.3 GC at the dealers other outlet in another town. They drove it over for me to look at, was the right color, so I took it out for a drive. Right away noticed the mileage indicator flickering at times, turned out it happened only in low gear. As we pulled back into the dealer's place all the gages swung back and forth and lights flashing on the dash, while in low gear. The sales gal says she would have someone look at it right away. I told her have them do it at their leisure, as I would not touch it with a 10 ft. pole. So far the T&C is great, and love the seats, much better than the Impala. Kind of funny, 2 minivans sitting side by side now.

As for the 3.8 ltr engine, I've got one in my 96GC with 190K miles on it and it hasn't so much as hickuped. I'm adding about a 1/2 qt of oil between changes. Getting 22-24 mpg on the highway. They've made many improvements to it since to get more hp. You can read more about it at Allpar.com

Good move with the 10 foot pole. From what I've seen on this and other forums the berserk instuments are common even on the newer vans. Chrysler just can't get it right....again.

If you wanted the 3.3 you should have looked at the Grand Caravans , you can still get the 3.3 in those and you can get almost any option on the Dodge that you can get on the Chrysler . I have the 3.3 in our 2004 T&C with the tow package and have never found the engine lacking for power and gets 25-26 mpg on the highway.
