Re: cylinder #5 not hitting, please help

I'd suggest buying an engine stethoscope, and listen to the injectors. If the #5 injector is not firing or firing weakly, you can hear a difference. The stethoscope is not that expensive, but I've also heard that if you're careful and have good ears, you can use a piece of vinyl tube.

If you hear the injector is not firing, I'd suggest moving it to another cylinder before you get a replacement. If the miss follows the injector, you have your answer. Otherwise, you may have a bad electrical connection.

Hope this helps! Glen

what makes you think it is not firing? Have you checked for codes? Is the check engine light on? or is it running like crap?

Re: cylinder #5 not hitting, please help

If you are getting a check engine light, you should have set a code in the computer. If you do, it is likely something like P0305 for a cylinder #5 misfire. You might check the codes again with a scanner at Autozone (free).

Again, I'd suggest you listen to the injectors and/or move the injector to see if either the injector is bad or the injector is not getting a signal to fire.

Or, they used to sell a "noid" light that plugged into the harness to see if the injector is being told to fire. You might see if a place like Autozone would have one to loan.....good luck, Glen

Re: cylinder #5 not hitting, please help

if you have an inline spark tester, put it in somewhere after the coil, and watch it while it is idliing. If there is no spark when it misses, it could very well be the coil tower for #5 cylinder. I forget where #5 is, hopefully it is in the front row.

I second 89ltd.

I would verify ignition and if that doesn't reveal a problem then look for injector signal. You can buy very inexpensive testers (Under $10 CDN). Ensure that the known good injector is getting the correct signal from the PCM to duty cycle the injector.

i already did that but thanks, after i drove it for 2 days with new injector check engine light quit flashing and finally went out, runs great now, when i put the injector in i had the battery diconnected, compurter should have been cleared of codes, dont know why it took 2 days to run right.
