Front end noises

I recently had new shocks and struts installed and both ends aligned. Two days later I started hearing clunking noises comming from the front end, especially when turning on an uneven road surface.
I took it back to both places that did the work and they both assured me that their work was ok.
I took it to a dealer and they seem to think that the rack and pinion needs replacing. It is leaking a little.
I told them that I don't feel much at the steering wheel and by looking at the schematic of the rack and pinion, I can't see anything that might cause such a deep sounding noise.
I feel that there migh be a motor mount or trans mount that is going bad thereby allowing the drive train to move,
Any thoughts?

Thx, Wayne
