Maxima 1998 blinking airbag light

I bought this car recently, and the airbag light was and is blinking. The owner said they had never deployed. Can someone tell me how to fix this? Are they not functioning?

means air bag control module is in diagnostic mode (code stored in memory)
local nissan dealer can assist you with issue

check your carfax,and you will most likely have a bad seat belt connection
male or female end,then have your light reset.....

I am assuming you have side airbags, the connection for them fail , and have updated side airbags. Thats most likely the problem , or message me and i can tell you a trick to turn if off , unless it's a hard code. It could just be in self diag
