Brake pad replacement

Probaly seen this before in the forum, but looking for some new recommendations. Presently have a 2001 Hoe. I am undecisive on replacing the brake pads with the original AC Delco composite pads or go with a aftermarket. I usually stay with OEM AC Delco parts, but I always felt that the vehicle did not stop very well with the presently original brakes. I am toss also between composite and the newer ceramic types. I have read conflicting information between the two. Any experience with aftermarket pads such as Hawk, Beno, Raybestoes, etc... and did you stay with composite or ceramic?

If you have not done them yet, Ceramics are the only way to go! Raybestos, Napa, any major brand. Be sure to take the rotors in to get machined! or replace them.

My 1997 Tahoe specifies ceramic. I have used Hawk on my Porsche with good results especially low dust.

I just pulled the front wheels for tire replacement and inspected the Hawks on the 911.

Historically the front pads lasted about 35K miles (I have put 156K miles on it.)

The Hawks are at 33K and they look like 70% life left.

Two notes. These are the street version of race pads, not race pads. Also I put cross-drilled disks on with the Hawks which probably have better cooling which would help pad life.

Based on this I would highly recommend the Hawks.
