Re: hate jobs

Maybe you're being denied because of your spelling?

Re: hate jobs

actually, it's what can make or break if you get the job or if they give it to someone who said they had to answer 100 psychology questions. as you get older and the jobs get more complex, it's even more important to have proper grammar and spelling.

Re: hate jobs

I assume you're self-spell checking procedure is much better for applications than it is for AF. But still, spelling mistakes can easily get job apps thrown in the garbage, or at least to the bottom of the pile. I used to review applications all the time and you'd be amazed at the spelling and grammar errors people make. One or two is okay (zero is much better), but some things are inexcusable. I assume this is to be your first job??? If so, a lack of workforce experience plus a lack of spelling skills would make my decision pretty easy.

Re: hate jobs

one thing that i have told many people to do, and it seems like it works, is to call the place back like 3 days after you turned in your application. Not only does this see if they actually looked at your application but it also shows that you are actually interested in the job (whether you are or you are just needing a job). Some employers will be looking for that extra little exhibition of interest.

Re: hate jobs

are/were you lookin for just like a part time-over the summer type job or are you talkin full time you're done with school type job?

this may be hard to grasp but maybe if you are applying for your dream job right now you should aim lower. sometimes you need experience and you need to climb the proverbial ladder to success. i know it sucks, we've all done it.

Re: hate jobs

^ Yeah. Just be patient. Remember, you're one of the million other teenagers (I'm assuming you're a teenager) that are doing the same thing as you. When I used to work at Movie Gallery, I'd hand out about 6 applications a day during the summer compared to maybe 6 a week during the rest of the year. If your city/town has a large late teen/ early twenties population, this makes it even more competitive.

The best bets are usually stores that haven't opened yet. They hire a large group at once as "temporary help" and then weed out who they want to keep once they evaluate the group.

Fast foods not my thing either. As stated, try retail stores. If they aren't your thing either, try hotels or motels.
Thats where I work (reception/front desk), and I get to wear a spiffy suit with a name tag .

But, beggars can't be choosers.
