srt vs. m3

Haha, once again another highway run. I was going to visit my mom(about a 30 min. freeway drive) when I see something in front of me that catches my eye. So I sped up a little and what do you know, a real nice looking M3(not sure of the year or mods). He had his window down, just chillin'...I slowly edged up next to him, looked over and gave a little "nice car" type nod. After that I'm not sure what happened, he must of thought it was some sort a challenge or something because he started getting on it and driving more sparatically. We got level again, he quickly got in front of me(not sure why) and then randomly floored it. I was wondering wtf(and at that time he was about 1.5-2 cars in front) so I floored it to, once again, just like running the evo, I had to play catch up... Through the 70-120ish run I was about to regain everything besides a .5 of a car. At 120 I decided to call it a day since it wasn't a side by side race, more of a "see I can keep up" and "probably get some ground in a real race" type run. I guess he had seen I let off so he let off too...soon later he(I'm guessing because of the whole having a neon keep up aspect) started darting through traffic like a crazed mad man. I'm not sure if it had any mods, the exhaust looked different(it was pretty large and shiny, but that could just be stock) That's just one less car I can take off my "cars to run before I die" list. Next up, c5 vette, firebird, and camaro.

Re: srt vs. m3

Sounds like an E36 M3, and your car is faster than one of those.

Nice run though, even if he didn't give you the honor of a clean run.

Re: srt vs. m3

I think it was a clean run no? I call that a death though, If you start to run a car and never pass it then its a loss! so yeah cant quite take it off your list can ya? unless by take it off your list you mean because you cant beat it.

I ran a M3 on the highway two days ago but it was so easy I didnt even bother posting it. Be carefull with those highway runs man.

and get some track times.

I don't really consider it a loss, With all the races I've posted recently(vs. m3, and vs. evo) I was able to gain considerable ground on them when they started further up than me. I don't think that I would be able to start from a couple cars back and just blow by a mid to low 13 sec car. I'll probably get to run the evo again, since he's my friend but the m3, I'll most likely never see again...

Re: srt vs. m3

You know you do bring up a really good point.
If we race on the highway and you make up ground does that mean you win?
or if you pass them does that mean you win?

......Im mean yes, if you pull up some ground then had it been even you would of passed them right?

but then again if you accept to start a race from behind a car it is because you are confident you can pass them! so the win would be to actually pass them.....
.....im stumped.
i think we need to come up with a decision and make it a "Man Law".

Re: srt vs. m3

Well, in both races I didn't want to start from a couple cars back, it just happened that way. But my logic is, if by starting 2 cars back, both times I was able to regain 1.5 cars...that should mean if we had been side by side, I should have put about 1.5 cars on them, does that make sense? In no way though was I saying my car is a shitload faster than a m3 or evo8, it would be cool if it was...but it isn't

Re: srt vs. m3

thing is when i race on the highway I usually dont go all out untill right before they pass me, then I drop gear or floor it all the way and pull away again.

so what you got me thinking is how many people Ive toyed with, dangled the victory right in front of them and then they think that because they closed the gap they won.
...damn I guess I have to reconsider my racing techniques.

Re: srt vs. m3

if you choose to race from behind and dont pass them...i say its niether a win or a loss depending on the sitiuation

i chased after a evo-8-9 not sure wich one on the free way and gained 3 cars on him, and was 5 cars back....and i also chased a LS1 trans am on the freeway from about 5 cars back and didnt stop until i passed him at 150mph

i say if you dont pass him, its either a loss...or just a run

Re: srt vs. m3

*Dons flame suit*

You lost. The race ended, and you were behind. Doesn't matter where you start, if you start behind, and finish behind, you loose. If you start in 8th place in a track race, and finish in second, they don't say you won, they say you finished second. Therefore, its a death.

And I would be saying the same thing about the M3 if it started behind and finished behind, so don't give me any shit about its because I like BMWs I'm making that argument.

Good run.

Re: srt vs. m3

Trust me, I usually never drive fast except for those instances in highway runs. I'm that guy that everyone always gets pissed that he's driving 65 in a 65 but then when something like an m3 pulls up the car wakes up...
