Smile Question for Techs re: Female Tool Dealers

I'm seriously considering puchasing a mobile tool franchise. There are very few female tool dealers out there...in fact the only ones I've located are spouses of the franchise owners running 2nd vans. Would you be less likely to buy your tools from a woman if the level of service is the same or higher as that of a male dealer? Any thoughts you share are much appreciated.

Re: Question for Techs re: Female Tool Dealers

Being female would differentiate yourself from other dealers.
Remember, product or service differentiation is an important concept for marketers; it's a good way to make one product/service stand out from others that appear to be the same.

Thinkl about the advertising efforts of Pepsi vs. Coke. They pay attention to the image of their products, and never the product itself, because the actual drinks themselves are pretty much the same.

Realistically, if the service is the same, I do not see mechanics preferring the man over the woman because of a gender bias. In this day and age, when women do well in every line of business/work there is and people have become used to this fact. I do not think most customers would really care if the tool dealer was female.

As an aside, there is a UAP parts dealer here in western Toronto, who has, for years used exclusively female parts delivery drivers. The dealer actually gets a bit of extra business from auto garages and service centers because the female drivers generally are more pleasant and couteous and generate a more professional appearance (ie, they are cleaner, neater, actually brush their teeth, etc ) than the male ones.

Thanks for your input. The differentiation is something positive I hadn't thought of.

Re: Question for Techs re: Female Tool Dealers

It doesn't matter to me as long as the person knows the products and is up to date on the companies new offerings. BTW, have you ever seen the calendars that most male mechanics have in their work area? Kind of gives you an idea of how a female tool dealer would fare out in the trenches It would make more of them take notice and not hide when the "tool salesperson" shows up.( At least many of the mechanics I've known or worked with )

tools, most of the time, sell themselves.

but a woman with tools is a mechanic's dream.

I think in the end Knowledge would be the deciding factor and of course tool price.
