1956

We had a 1956 Pontiac 2DR Hardtop with leather seats, automatic, and dual exhausts when I was growing up. It was two tone white and light chocolate. My mother sold it in 1966 for $150 because the transmission was slipping. What I'd give to have that one back. After 50 years it is still my favorite car of all time. I wasn't that crazy about the '59 Edsel.

Re: 1956

I"m not big into restorations and that one looks pretty beat up. As I recall the 56's had a transmission Park position and the 55's did not. I've always loved those old Pontiacs. My first car was a '63 Star Chief 2dr. hardtop, green with white top bought in 69 for $895. That's another one I'd like to have back.

Re: 1956

sorry forgot to say it was in poor condition.
It would take some time on that one thats for sure.

I did not know the 55' didnt hav park. I'll hav to remember that!
Star Chiefs are nice big cars. What a price!
You couldnt even find one non restored for that these days .

I hav a 66' Dynamic 88 4dr w/425 Rocket 124k , which is in (bad)need of restoration, but runs very well And some frame work
I learned to drive in this 66', it was scarry to say the least

.........and How I'd like to get a few I let go back in the day

My dad had a few Pontiacs - 48 2dr, 50 2dr, 53 4dr, 57 4dr. HT (Super Chief, with 3x2). My first was a used '50 2dr, then a '55 Star Chief. Later, I got a '57 Chieftain, a '63 Cat, a '66 GTO (four speed, 3x2) and later yet, while in Utah, a '56 2dr Post (rust free) for $165.00. After building a family, I have had more of them - an '80 Phoenix, '84 6k, '89 and '97 Bonnies. Currently only the '79 TA.
I'd like to get another '56 as a toy to build up.
