Exclamation Head Rebuild... Part 2

Hey all;
I finally found a shop that will do my head. I just want to run what they said by all of you to see if I'm getting yanked or whatnot.

It's called Weimer Machine in Berwyn, IL. They said in order to do a valve job, they need every part because they rebuild the head with that. True? I thought with a 3-angle valve job they just recut the holes. True?

They said porting is a different story. Said it's $95 an hour, about 5-6 hours worth. Smooth runners, not mirror smooth, but smoother and enlargen all runners. Intake and exhaust holes would be bigger. Don't need all parts except for header (if different size gasket which it isn't), and the IM if port-matching that too.

They said to bring in a list of all the parts that I want to make sure that they'll all work together right. They said the springs may have to have something done to them in order for them to work right... IDK. What do you guys think?

Re: Head Rebuild... Part 2

They do need the valves in order to do the valve job, but they shouldn't need anything else. I would have them do everything except port it, that seems like a big rip-off to me. Fuck, send it to me and I'll do it for half of that, you could easily do it yourself though.

Re: Head Rebuild... Part 2

Concept Illusions, someplace out in PA (I got my TB done there) wants $375 for a head job. Would I be worth it to go there?
