LT1 Gas Mileage
I was just curious as to what you guys are getting in the 5.7's from 94-96.
I'm thinking of a Caprice considering my 2000 Impala Ls w/100k is only getting 13 city/22 highway and I will soon be doing heavy driving, mostly city when I get my new business venture going. Any replies are appreciated- Tim |

Re: LT1 Gas Mileage
My '94 Impala gets about 24 MPG (if I stay off the fun pedal) on the highway at 70-ish MPH averages. That's with a .525-.540 Comp cam, 2.02/1.60 valves, ported heads and intake, retune, and exhaust. I don't have good figures on what the mileage was in stock form. Combined or city milage is nowhere near that.
My '96 is rated at 26 highway, but I've never verified that. It has 4,100 miles on it an isn't really broken in yet. |

Re: LT1 Gas Mileage
In my 95 RM I get about 13 overall with mostly San Fernando Valley street/parking lot driving with the a/x always on (110+ today)
My best tank has been about 18. Would probably easily top 20+ on an exclusively highway trip, but I live in Souterhn California and the freeways are never that good!

Re: LT1 Gas Mileage
I live in Connecticut, I am not really that familiar with California but I'm guessing that there are a number of hills in your area as far as the in town driving goes? My city driving is mainly in the New Haven area and we are mostly flat; the amount of stop and go really depends on the route and the day, but for a car they promote as being so great on gas and only weighs 3400,-my 2000 Impala LS, I am only getting 13 under those driving conditions I previously mentioned and I am getting rather disgusted especially since I found out it's only worth about $5000 so I will be taking quite a loss if I sell it.
Sorry for the rant about my car, I do appreciate everyone's replies regarding the LT1- Tim |
