Steering column

Hi Have a 1993 bonneville. My question is would it be hard for a person without to much experience to take a whole steering column out n put one back in. is there a site to look at that some one may know of? The turn signal switch is broke n i don't know how to fix it n it look like it may be easy to change steering? Can anyone please steer me in the right way.

Thank You
Howard

i dont know if the link will work for you if it doesnt let me know or just go to autozone.com and go to repair info then steering and suspension then to steering and then to turn signal switch and it will give you instructions on how to do the turn signal, ive heard of people doing the whole steering column but they found out afterwards you have to have a new key made for it and if you have the resistor type keys i think theyre like 20 bucks or something im not sure but thats what ive heard

Re: Steering column

Is it just the multi lever arm that you use for blinkers, cruise control. If so it just pulls out and has 1 elec connector .They are cheap at wreckers,I have 2-3 spares.

Re: Steering column

It is fairly straightforward to replace an entire column, but it is very time-consuming and possibly frustrating. You would be better off to fix the turn signal. What exactly is it doing or not doing??

Re: Steering column

I have a 97 Regal GS had trouble w/ the multi function switch in the column. to buy new is around $300. I went to junkyard and got the whole column for $100. It would be easier to just replace the switch. Steering wheel and airbag dont have to come out. Also its easier to take the switch out of the junkyard unit first then take the one out of the car.
