2002 Coolant sensor Location

Hi all,

Sorry if this has been asked before but I couldn't find an answer...

I'm looking for the coolant sensor location on a 2002 Chev Impala LS 3.8. I belive that the sensor is bad because the low coolant light is coming on when both the Rad and the Resevoir are full. Any help is appreciated! (or possible solutions )

TIA

Stew

R/S radiator tank???

Do you mean the coolant resevoir?

It's actually on the radiator itself.

Passenger side, on the edge/corner of the radiator, about 1/3 of the way down, "back" side, it's grey.

It's basically right in front of your batteries positive post.

Yup that's what I was pointing too, not enough detail though, by this time my fingers are stiff from work. Thanks Bigrod for the clearer description, see I typed more this way anyway!!

A low coolant light could also be a stuck thermostat... If it's stuck open you could get a light... I just had this happen... Changed out the thermostat and now the warning light does not come on... On the 3.8L engine you can replace the thermostat in about 10 minutes...

Re: 2002 Coolant sensor Location

But..... If your problem is truly the coolant level sensor there is an excellent "How To" at: www.impalahq.com

Go into the How To" section and you will see exactly what you need to know about changing the sensor...
