99 3.8 shut off problems

I have been advised after having a new mass air flow and new crank position sensor installed with no resolution to my intermittent shut off of the engine problem, to have a new ignition installed and the codes reprogramed.

The reason for this is the fact that I have to turn the key several times to get it to make contact and crank. I was told that the sensor is not reading the key or the wire is loose. Before I spend 300 to 400 for the part and installation I wanted to mention this to the board. Has anyone else had this suggestion? 1 thing that is odd though is that after starting I can pull the key out of the ignition while it is turn on and the car stays on.

Help, limited funds and patience with this.

If you can pull the key out of the key cylinder that that is abnormal. It sounds like you may have a flaky key cylinder and it may not be making proper contact to the electrical portion of the ignition switch assembly. For Passlock the cylinder is the transponder device for theft deterrent.
