The choice is killing me!!!

I was so set on getting the b18c swap for my car(96 civic cx) because now they are so cheap only 3000 at nippon. But in the back of my head the call of a b20 turbo is echoing. My goal is to have a car that can pull mid 13's reliably. Can a b18c with i/h/e and cams do this. Or am I just better off and going with a b20b with about 6-9 psi. One person always says no "replacement for displacement" and then another person will say there is "no replacement for displacement except technology (vtec)" and another guy will say " no replacement for displacement except turbo" and it really just screws with my head and its starting to hurt.

Turbos are great if they are tuned well. For example, I used to have a 97 Civic ex and my best run at the 1/8 was 10.9 and I usually ran 11.2. Well, I went to the track last week and saw another 97 Civic ex w/ turbo, intercooler and everything. I watched him race and he ran 11.5 constantly. I couldn't believe it!
You can always do the CRV-VTEC swap. Get a b20 block and slap a b16 head on it. This way you'll have torque and vtec .
You definitely WILL NOT be disappointed from a B18C1. I speak from experience! It will be a little less work too.
"No replacement for displacement"- this is true! My friend has the same setup as me (5th gen h/b w/ B18C1). I know he has his head bored out and he's got new rods/pistons, but I'm not sure what the specs are. Let me tell you, this car is super fast. He is running 11's in the 1/4 w/ a 75 shot.
You can always get the gsr save your money and turbo it! I'm kinda biased though.

Well I did price out a crvtec setup and more expensive then I wanted to go ( I want to go the right way, build up). The b18c swap is easier cause everything is going to be with everything. Though the b20 seems to be torqueir(spelling) at a lower rev. This car is going to be a daily driver so reliability is important

Go for the B18c.... You may be able to get more power out of the B20 with a turbo, but stock the B18c is a way more powerful engine.. so You should get the B18 and just do more work on it once you can afford it!

See every time I look at the b18c swap its about 3300 shipped and then I look at a b20 swap for about 2700. The b20 consisting of b20b 1100 shipped gsr tranny shipped 1075 and then about 500 for a ls im, ls ecu, and other things. For 500 dollars the b18c seems like a great deal.
