Convert fwd to awd

How hard would it be to convert a Fwd tsi to a Awd tsi?
and what would I need to convert it over?

Re: Convert fwd to awd

wow dude don't even try this swap unless you can spend some big bucks and alot of time and anger trying to pull this swap off. I helped a friend of mine due this and by the time we were done he spent 3500$ and it took 2 1/2 months. I dont think its worth it, i got a fwd turbo GST and i wouldnt go all wheel drive no matter what, with the rite set of tires your be just as fast off the lauch as a AWD and once your in 3rd gear your have more top end power.

The drivetrain loss isn't as bad as you say, by 3rd gear you'll just be catching the AWD because he will smoke you off the line unless you're running some drag slicks.

I wouldn't go as far to say a FWD will launch as fast as an AWD with good tires. Maybe if the AWD was using donut tires, but it would be close.
