You can be pretty sure the fuel pump is bad, 14 years old? Pressure test the pump after it has be running an hour or so.

hi, I changed out the fuel relay and nothing seems to fit in kinda loose.was kinda thinking it is the fuel pump but can't get it to start no gas going thru the fuel filter so I guess it maybe the fuel pump how difficult is that to do. and how expensive?do I need to get to the gas tank? if so anyway you can tell me how to do this or give me a link that will show me how I really do appreicate this help. Thanks Lynn

Re: 93 Buick regal 3.8 liter won't start

priceless here been outside since 7am now 4 p.m.Inside the trunk on the drivers side there is 4 wires 1grey 2 black and 1 purple with a test light and help tested the 4 wires with ignition on the purple wire has a dimm light the grey wire has very bright intermittent light the 2 black wires nothing I think they have something to do with the fuel tank they are on the bottom and lead under the car checked the relay that has good light plugged and unpluuged every connectors inside the engine and checked they all work all have bright light undid the fuel filter and turned the ignition on a small amount of gas comes out not like before when I took the old one off not even close a very small trickle.it is just to hot to do any more but as I was crawling from under neath the car seen a connector that looks like it goes to the gas tank has 4 grey wires on one side and 4 grey wires on the other side and you take apart a connector.I didn't take that apart yet and check it by all means I am no mechanic the car only has 13,000 miles on it the battery is fully charged and half tank of gas can't get to start for gas not making it to get it to start but befor I buy a fuel pump and strainer I would like to be very certain that is what it is Thanks for any help priceless -Lynn

Can you hear the pump run for 2 secs. when the key is turned on, if not recheck the relay, if so then get a pressure gage on it to confirm the pump is bad.

most shops have a pump to remove your fuel and put it back in when they are finished

Sound to me like you need a new fuel pump it is inside the gas tank also make sure you replace the sock and I would replace the filter again
