97 eclipse rs

hi, a freind at work bought a 97 rs everything about it is stock but the rims and the thing has 141k miles on it and he paid 3500 for it and it needs work ( i already told him he got analy raped) anyway how long do normal rs last assuming the previous owner took decent care of it. and he wants to do stuff to the engine and i told him he needs ether a rebuild on the engine and tranny or buy it new. but would he need to i'm not totaly sure if he would put on a turbo or spray in it.

Re: 97 eclipse rs

Nobody knows how long any car will really last. There are a lot more factors than just how well the owner took care of it. Hell I thought mine was in perfect shape until the motor crankwalked on me.

Also, this should have been placed into a sub-forum. Everyones gonna give you a hard time about it since your not a fresh newbie to AF.

Performance would have been a good choice.

As far as your question, what exactly is wrong with it now that you say it needs work? The car has too many miles to be modded safely at this point, and to be honest would be pointless because it would be a waste of money to rebuild it, and then drop even more money on mods. Tell him to give it a tune-up, use it as a daily driver, and save his money for something worth putting money into if he wants power and to mod.

Re: 97 eclipse rs

the hatchdoor only works with the lever on the inside not by a key the body only has primire on it the interior needs work done to it i didn't get to look under the hood

he doesn't listen i told him to wait until he has around 6-7k before buying a car so he can find something with less miles or atleast get a gs-t or a gsx
