v6 standard transmission

Anyone know if the v6 2.8 takes Gear Fluid or Trans Fluid ?

"Gear fluid" = manual trans

ATF-"Automatic transmission fluid" = auto

I hear that, My ultimate goal is to get a nice old Chevy with a V8 396 Standard 4 spd. My dad had one and well it was nice. Dunno much about the newer cars but i know the old ones are nice and have some serious power.
