LT1 not turning over at all..

okay, so this is a late 'problem' its more of a solution, actually.. my sisters Z28 was having starting problems, it wouldnt turn over, it had the solenoid clicking, it would have problems recharging the battery, etc. we changed the battery once, twice, changed the alternator, still happened, then one day, NOTHING turned on, not even the lights!

the problem? really badly corroded terminals, but since the Lt1 battery clip are the side-ways one, with the plastic/rubber cover over it, its really hard to tell. reading a DMM on the battery+ to the ground would also give 12V, so we even thought it was the computer...

no. such an easy problem..so..guys with LT1s..be careful of that crappy connector. im thinking of crimping a top connector onto mine..i wonder if the hood will still allow it to close?

Re: LT1 not turning over at all..

Taht's a common problem on quite a few late 80's to mid 90's GM's. After confirming battery voltage, the next test is amperage.

I had a similiar problem once that turned out to be a loose ground. It was fine when the key was turned in the run position but the minute you went to draw power to the starter all lights and chimes went dead then went the key was put back in the run position not start again everything would come back on.
