Heat sheild

ok.. so the heat shield on the underside of my hood looks crappy... it is torn and some is hanging down, just ugly! So my question is if anyone has seen aftermarket ones (I've seen some "carbon fiber" ones for a 240sx) and where i could get one... or... will the spray adhesive stuff ignite after it drys?

I'll probably also price a stock one from a dealer and a junkyard (if i can find it)

Re: Heat sheild

I'd just yank one off another 3000GT.

Re: Heat sheild

they all ruin after time, they just start to fall apart. i just cut mine off from where it started to fray, so now it doesn't look as bad. but eventually, i'll just tear it all out. our engines don't produce that much heat to really merit a heat shield like that under the hood. i know guys with VR4s that have been running w/o their heat shield for a long time, no problem at all.

if your's isn't in pristine condition, i would tear it out. it only makes the engine bay look crappy if its all torn up and hanging down. i wouldn't worry about a new one, just a waste of money, and it would look even better w/o the heatshield in the first place.

Re: Heat sheild

Thanks boys.

I am only worried about the paint because my paint job looks amazingly awsome! lol... but i may just take it off and then slowly look around for one at a junkyard (but not too many 3s' around here)...

anyway mine looks really bad and you can see that the intake has tried sucking up somne loose fibers from the inside of the heat shield ... so its pretty sad looking... im off tomorrow and friday so ill take it off then.
