Sebring VS GTI

Im new to this forum and Ive read some interesting stories, Ive been racing since I was 15 and love to race anything on wheels. Had a Z28 but I got married and really couldnt afford it anymore. Now I own a 2002 Chrysler Sebring LXI. Any how last week my wife and I were driving back home from Mexico and I see a Golf GTI revving on me, the wife was asleep so I say to myself what the heck. We go from a 50 roll and I pulled em by 6 car lengths after a mile on the freeway. Being the retard he is, he came back for some more and this time the GTI had a 80 mph run on me and he passed me up I slam the gas and a 1/2 mile later walked him down @ about 110 this went on for a better part of 120 Miles of my trip back and forth till the cops caught both of us doing 98 over 70 and its burning my pockets $350 to the great state of California.I dont know the specs on a GTI but Im not too impressed with the one I raced. Is there any one else out there racing 4doors halla at me.

Re: Sebring VS GTI

I will Honestly call BS on this, I have proof. my dad has a sebring LXI and I owned it before I modded my car. I have a 1.8t jetta which is exactly the same as a GTI except that I weigh 50 pounds more which is nothing. The Sebring weighs almost 300 pounds more than a GTI. Though it does have 20 more horse and about 30 more pounds of torque, it's not at the wheels, sebring unfortunatly lose a good deal of power stock. So I'm not even going to ask what year the GTI was cause It wouldnt make a difference and also 110 is your top speed since I've taken my dads sebring to the top. GTI's have a top speed of 148 mph(2002-2004) (2000-2001 is 135 and 2005+ is 130) So no you did not walk him up to 110 cause he wouldve blown right by you faster than a Corolla would blow by a stock Geo metro (props to Rice(er))

So as I said before

Re: Sebring VS GTI

honestly I did beat him I have no reason to lie to you I thought it was interesting story. And the sebring governs at 115 so you might want to get that speedo calibrated. and I have heard of guys taking the gov off and getting to 140 in that car so obviously yur dads sebring needs a tune up or something

Re: Sebring VS GTI

the difference between 110 and 115 is absolutely nothing
on top of that the aero dynamics on the sebring arent that great and would have a much harder time going to 140 than the gti would so unless you got alot more power to get you to the 140 faster it wouldnt be worth it since now you will burn your transmission and damage your engine being able to redline in a car that really isnt supposed to.

there is a reason why they restricted it to 110 (or 115 which is what the speedo goes to but not the car, since the ecu limits it to 110 and cuts the fuel off till it goes back to 98), it wasnt supposed to be a performance vehicle.

Re: Sebring VS GTI

When I was Stock i've taken out a 350z, a g35, SRT-4, a celica GT-S, a 5.0 stang and other 1.8t jettas and GTI's (these things are just to name a few)
Now With my mods I haven't had as much action as before and have went with a Saturn redline, an RSX type-sand some other things here and there that I dont even remember.

Re: Sebring VS GTI

almost sounds like you are saying you're car is faster then a sartie, when the best time u have shown is a 14.8, and not by you.

speaking of, when are u getting slips and a dyno?
