Bought Newish seats on EBay. guy trying to scam me.

well I was hunting through EBay, thinking about new seats and found this auction....http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=220005365593

well it has no reserve noted and states FREE for shipping. so I bid 12 bucks. My bid won, final price was .99 cents!

well I get this message from the seller...."ebay is being dumb, they changed how thier modify listing works, so when I went to add a reserve price it diddnt work and I tried to end the auction and that diddnt work either, $125 is the reserve, free pickup or 100 shipped. They would ship fedex."

WTF!! I just won a no reserve auction that states free ship, and now this cat wants 125 for the seats and 100 to ship? I mean I knew it was to good to be true, but come on. it aint hard to end an auction.

So I sent him a reply stating that I was not going to pay his reserve and that if he was going to stick to that, he could just leave me generic positive feedback, and I would do the same, and he could keep the seats. If he tries again to get 225 out of me for this auction I will simply report it to EBay and they will cancel this whole shebang and possibly suspend his acount. no biggie to me.

Just thought I would let others know about this guy.

Re: Bought Newish seats on EBay. guy trying to scam me.

sorry but im on his side on this one, did you read the description? "RESERVE $125

i will not sell these for less than $125 if the auction is not up to $100 with 12 hours remaining i will end the auction early and sell these locally or at a later date.

tan seats from a 1983 z-28 camaro these seats have no rips (60k on the car), no fading (car allways stored), and they have power driver seat in perfect working condition.

buyer to pay for shipping

Check out my other auctions for more great camaro parts.

Any questions just ask. 315 246 7558"

sounds like he just cant figure his shit out. ask him for your .99 cents back and be done with it. positive and positive. if i were him i would do the same thing cause he would lose about 150 dollars if he followed through. you know how much it would cost to ship all those seats. heavy and theya are like oversize category 3. big big bucks. it happened to me. i lost like 70 dollars but i had a bunch of auctions so in the end i didnt lose any money. but yeah id say reporting him would be going to far. think if you were on his side

I didn't read the auction but it if stated that in the description I guess that 88camaroproject is right and the guy kinda has a point and he should just forget about any money changing hands and you both call it quits.

Yea I missed that in the descripton. Now I feel like a total jackass for posting this. any way it all worked out, we both left Positive feedback for eachother and washed our hands of this.

description dosnt matter in this case, he listed as a no reserve auction, he won it for 99c and legally the seller must sell him the seats for that price, im sure you could report him to ebay if you wanted

Re: Bought Newish seats on EBay. guy trying to scam me.

nah, not going to report it. we worked it out. No money changed hands, no items shipped, positive feedback all around!

On a side note I did pose this example to Ebay Safe Harbor and they told me that I was in the right. you CANT post a reserve in the description. if you state in the description that you willl only sell for $5000 but the highest bid is only a buck, guess what, you have to sell it for that buck, or risk the buyer leaving negative feedback, and reporting to Ebay for action.

Re: Bought Newish seats on EBay. guy trying to scam me.

You shouldn't give a positive feedback if nothing exchanged hands. You should've given neutral feedback. People look and see positive feedback but don't look at the details. After that, they could try to scam someone, but they'll have a positive feedback. That's why I look at ALL of the little details before bidding.

Re: Bought Newish seats on EBay. guy trying to scam me.

Not to try and stir anything up, but....................here's my 2 cents worth
If you think Ebay is on your side and will protect you from a bad deal or fraud, then think again.
Ebay is for Ebay and only Ebay . The most they will do if a deal goes sour is to send an email & if the parties in dispute choose to not respond then that is the end of the track for that process and a real person never even sees your complaint its just emails and nothing more. Their dispute process is a catch 22 scenerio too.
If you follow the process & time frame that Ebay wants you too you will end up going just over a few days past the time limit for their "fraud Protection" which is about worthless on any large purchases. Their max protection liability is $200 less a $25 "processing fee" so the most you can collect is $175 on any deal irregardless of the total amount, and you have to jump thru a LOT of hoops to get the bastards to pay that and you have to do it exactly as they want you too - one screw up and you loose. and if you dont respond within hours of their request for info, they will close the case and say the problem is solved
(total BS - but its the way they do things)

Word to the wise on Ebay transactions - buyer beware -proceed with caution and at your own risk
I speak from experience on a similar deal on some seats i bought from a clown in Tampa, Florida that stated they were Real leather and these didn't even come close. - 100% pure genuine vinyl. i lost $600 on that deal and yet ebay still lets the Jerk sell as long as they reap their fees and commissions (even though they had to pay out the $175 fraud claim i finally won agains this guy)

Re: Bought Newish seats on EBay. guy trying to scam me.

Ebay and Paypal both suck monkey balls. They have screwed me more times than I can count. Paypal way more but ebay as well. With transactions that the buyer never completed but they billed my card and bank account for the listing and final fee's regardless and then you have to fight them to the death to get your money back. You know your screwed when the item and the processor of the transaction are owned and operated by the same entity.
