Importation Recommendations

Guys,

I have seen alot of talk on this forum regarding the importation of GTR's to the US for street use. Please let me make a number of recommendations so that your baby doesn't get "lost" in the mail.

1) If you are going to have Motorex do the conversion, make sure you contact them BEFORE the car is on the boat. The reason being, if you car sits at a port for more than 15-days while you are negotiating with Motorex, your shipment will be seized by US Customs.

2) Be sure you have a thorough understanding of the regulations involved with this. Cars must be converted within a certain timeframe, and if not, must either get exported of crushed.

3) Verify that all required documentation from DOT and EPA is completed before shipping to the US, or your shipment sit at the port and be seized, or not allowed entrance to the US at all. (i.e. sent back to Japan, at more cost to you).

Guys, the DOT, EPA and Customs do not screw around, nor do they make concessions if a mistake is made because the proper research was not conducted prior to shipping of the car. Importation paperwork is not an easy thing, so please make sure you know what needs to be done, before purchasing and shipping to the US.

Kevin

It's funny how the Tax payers money pays for all this crap that we have to deal with today. Its a shame how some of the gov't agancies can manifest into almost Nazi style dictatorships that are above the law. I know we as a country need some form of conrtol on what comes into the states, but damn.
