Still in first gear it sometimes shakes and has no go, and feels shaky or something, and tahts sometimes but sometimes it runs fine. sometimes the service engine lights on, sometimes not , sometimes blinking sometimes solid. im not sure if its my 1st gear tranny or a censor or i dont know i think its just 1st gear but im not really sure. any insight would greatly be appreciated, thanks Rex

go to Autozone or one of those stores and have them 'read the codes.' Get the EXACT number code and report back to us so we can help you. It'll be something like P0300 ... basically a number with 4 digits. Also, we need to know about your vehicle. What year is it? Vin? How many miles? |

Please post back with Make, Model, Year, and engine size. I would suggest that if you're getting check engine lights coming on, take your truck to AutoZone or someplace that will read these codes for free. Write them down and post back and tell us what they are. Don't pull your hair out and don't start throwing parts and money at this truck until you get some diagnostics going.

Re: problem
autozone geez! i tought we were trying to help others on this web forum. i suggest taking it to someone who may know what the cause maybe in steady of just the code sometimes your money ahead to pay for a diagnosis then to have a place guess and sell you a bunch of "parts" the say its free but everyone walks out with a part and usally has to come back for more because the first guess was wrong. dont sound free to me.

Re: problem
The big stores like Autozone and Advance all read them for free and suggest which parts their store computer program says is most likely to fix it - and yes it is your option to buy it or not - we can't help someone correctly without a code if SES is on and I for one use their free service and thank them. Many repair shops charge for this and they also are looking to sell you a part plus the labor.

But if you are just looking to get a quick answer then go there, it's quick and easy. And you dont HAVE to buy any parts if you dont want to. It's a thing I like to call will power and being able to just walk out the door.

Re: problem
jd-autotech gave us his honest opinion, he doesn't have to be told 3 times that he's wrong.
That isn't helping RexT with his problem either |

Re: problem
I know if SES is flashing it means misfire. Go get it scanned but the scanners the autoparts use sometimes does not get all codes.
The dealer has a scanner which is much more expensive and can read tranny, engine, BCm, ABs etc... codes, the parts store can only get you engine trouble codes. at least you have the engine trouble code and fix em first, then hopefully that'll fix your problem. If not then move on to the next one. |

Re: problem

Autozone can do the service for free and will supply a code which we can help the guy point out the problem.

Also, you might have a bad coil. At night run the engine and see if it is arching. Also replace the PCV valve and get your fuel filter changed.
