Turn signal brain teaser

I just noticed that the turn signal lights are not on when the headlights are on. Are they supposed to be? They do start blinking when the blinker is on? If they are supposed to be on any ideas? Its a 98 sport and I checked the usual fuses but they seem OK (under the dash and left side of the engine compartment near the battery). My head hurts!

Can't say 100% what it might be. Have you added any accessories or components that might be rubbing on a wiring harness? I've had similar light issues that were caused when an accessory I added a year earlier wore through the wiring harness on the lights. Also, check your lighting relay in the engine compartment.

No new accessories - I did replace the battery about 6months ago but tha's a pretty clean deal - I was hoping to put some fog lights in but haven't gotton around to that.

i did not look at the lights relay. I'll peek at that one.

I have had a simmilar problem with mine and after two weeks of swearing and frustartion I have found that I have a poor earth wire from the socket to the lamp.I experienced the problem only on the left hand side though.Maybe fit a test wire to the earth sockets of the lamp to test.I hope this helps

my 2002 montero sport had the same problem they just replaced the bulbs and cleaned the contacts everything is fine now i hope it works
