I've also got a 77 midget (currently under reconstruction after a hard life autocrossing and ferrying my son to school). Love it ! Plan to keep it.

If it can be done to a midget (de-constuction) my son probably did it. I have probably attempted, rightly or wrongly , almost every re-construction project.
