O.k. Fellas I Need Your Help Again! I Have Heard Alot Of Bad Things About Dexcool. My Question Is Can I Flush The Cooling System Out And Refill With Reg Green Stuff. Also Is There A Petcock Valve On The Radiator.

Re: Dexcool Swap
Yes, you can drain, flush, rinse, drain, and fill with "regular" green coolant concentrate. You'll have to do that every two years after you change to green, instead of every five as with DexCool.
I've actually gone the other way. I swapped my '94 Impala to DexCool after some work, and changed my '86 T/A to DexCool after losing my second heater core in a few years. That was about 8 years ago, and all I've done since then is the routine 5-year service. |

Re: Dexcool Swap
thanks for the reply! another question i have is i have a coolant leak i think
it's the water pump, it leaks about 6oz of fluid after i park the van. the guy at the local autozone told me to replace the water pump real quick i told him the van has never overheated it stays at about 190 or so even in 100deg weather. he said when the pump go's the temp will spike real fast and blow the engine! sould i be worried about this i can't get the van looked at untill next month i just keep adding water to the radiator everyday. (about 1 liter) |

Re: Dexcool Swap
Yes you should be worried about it! It's leaking coolant. It will only get worse. The little leak is a designed in warning sign for you that the pump is going south. Replace it immediately!
