Question Part #?

Does anyone have one of those GM parts catalogs with all the part #'s in it? It suppliments the shop manuals. I'm looking for the part number for the long mounting bolt for an '88 V6 (2.8L) alternator.

I tried a dealership but they have no part number for it.

Thanks in advance

Re: Part #?

If I had your e-mail address I'd send you a copy of the page out of my P catalog. There are 6 bolts in the diagram that mount the alternator to the bracket and to the block. The longest to me appears to be part # 11508301.

It is listed as bolt, HFH.(M8x1.25x75) 9.8 por

Re: Part #?

Thanks Lar! That's it. The dealership gave me the long bolt for the starter. The bolt I needed was the one that mounts the alternator to the bracket. They weren't sure they were giving me the right one but they didn't have a part # for it. They even showed me on the computer an exploded view diagram of the whole assembly and there was no part # for it.
I asked the Fierostore and they gave me the exact dimensions you gave.

The one I had in there was staring to strip so I bought a socket for rounded bolts and the bolt broke at the thread so the other end is still in the bracket holding on the alternator... Time to get the drill.

Thank again

Re: Part #?

Damn, that wasn't the right bolt, it was too small. It was a bracket bolt that holds the bracket to the engine block. I dl'd a copy of the P catalog and it's wierd... There's a part # for the pivot/mounting bolt. It's numbered "12" and the actual # is 11509202. But, I had to look at the page for the 85-87 2.8l to get it... On the page with the '88 there is no part # for the alternator pivot bolt (the long bolt that goes through the bracket and pivot hole in the alt.)

No wonder the dealership didn't come up with a part #... And why the Fiero Store guy gave me the same bolt you did. Must've been an oversite when printing that book.
