94 Bonne-shifts to soon

Hi Everyone, thanks for having me here. My Bonneville has 234k on it and the check engine light is on and it shifts through all the gears really fast and the passing gear does not downshift when you press down on the gas. Sometimes it dies when you coast up to a stop sign also. It has the codes that no one seems to know how to read, thought I would get some advice from other bonneville owners who might have had the same problem. Thanks

Welcome to AF. You will need to get this scanned on a professional scanner to get the codes in this transitional year. Once you get this done post back the results.

Hi Verdana. I had the same problem. Scan showed bad TPS (throttle position sensor). After replacing, car ran like new again. Hope this helps.

Hi Byron11234. I had same problem. Scan showed bad TPS (Throttle Position Sensor.) After replacing it, car ran like new again. Hope this helps.
