time for exhaust
ive had my 88 dx hatch for a couple years now and its still pretty much bone stock. haha im gettin real tired of my friends making fun of my "pee hole" sized muffler. ive accepted the fact that my car is not fast, but id still like a little louder of an exhaust. why kind of mufflers do u guys have?
i wanted some idea and suggestions before i go and buy anything. Last edited by civic88dx; 07-17-2006 at 12:02 PM. |

Re: time for exhaust
Ive got a whole Tanabe setup with this tip http://www.tanabe-usa.com/exhausts/medalionracing.asp , and I love it, I would recommend you get a resonator welded in before the muffler though..kills that rhaspy rice rocket ripping sound.

Re: time for exhaust
thanks guys. ya i dont want that raspy tin can sounding exhaust, or real loud. so your saying i should get a resonator put in as well as a muffler?
my friend works at an car audio place and he said he could get me a tom motorsport muffler, those any good. he also has a apexi n-1, but i dont want to spend 700 bucks on a muffler |

Re: time for exhaust
just make sure you don't get a fart can. I love hondas but cannot stand when i see(actually hear) these ghetto ass ten different colored civics and crx's. It just gives people like me and many others a bad name. Make sure it also gives you power.about 8 years ago, I had a guy at a honda dealership tell me that the exhaust on the civic i was looking at added like 10 horsepower and it was worth hundreds. I looked under the car and all it had was a welded TIP. i questioned the guy and told him he was horribly wrong and i said you just lost a sale. It was a 95 civic ex with stock engine.

Re: time for exhaust
i would just buy an otto racing muffler. i have been using them for years. they work great. real nice low tone and no raspiness. just make sure you get a cutom made 2.25 in. exhaust pipe. procarparts.com sells them

Re: time for exhaust
Yeah putting on a can is stupid and gives honda's the 'ricer' name and wont help (as well) for NA cars.. I def recommend Tanabe if you wanna get a full system, nice clean sound with good gains (for exhaust..) and is only like 400-600. Idk what you should get if u just do muffler tho..

Re: time for exhaust
thanks guys, all this helps. i just havent had much time to look into the exhaust much, i have been working lots. but if you guys explained your set-ups as well as the brands you have used and how much it will cost that would help me out a lot. i know its just a stock dx, but i want to do it right. i dont want to start off with some cheep sounding fart can

Re: time for exhaust
i make fun of people with loud exhausts. why the hell would you want your car louder than it is?
you can have a large exhaust and still have it quiet, like mine. |
