1995 Gulf Cars
Has anyone any detailed photographs of the 1995 Gulf cars as I am making a one off 1/5 scale model (seen as Mclaren will not let anyone build a 1:1 scale one lol). I am particularly looking for detailed shots of the interior and engine bay. At this scale you can really put a great deal of detail into it.
Cheers. |

Re: 1995 Gulf Cars
Will it have the ability to move under its own power? If so, what kind of motor?

Re: 1995 Gulf Cars
Sorry F1 it will be a purely static model with as much detail as I can get in it.
It will probably be as near as I ever get to owning one without a Lottery Win. carbuilder2002 |

Re: 1995 Gulf Cars
Thanks Poleton25,
I actually have that magazine with the article in on the Gilf racing programme. There seems to be a wealth external pictures but very few really detailed shots. From what I can see very few GTR's are alike under the skin. Do we know who the custodians of the 3 Gulf cars are? I know one was converted to road use but as far as I know the other 2 have dropped out of sight. carbuilder2002 |

Re: 1995 Gulf Cars
Hi Noddy,
Usually build my cars 1:1 scale built replicas of all of the Le-mans jaguars and even a Porshe 917. Used to be a professional modelmaker making full size prototypes for companies. This model came about having done a great deal of design groundwork on the possibility of building a fulkl size Mclaren for my own use but have been advised against it. So decided a very large scale model is as close as I will get without ending up in the courts. Actually thinking of a carbon fibre body to keep it thin yet strong. Am based in North of England, and not planning on building more than one as it will take me years and not many people will have space for a 1 metre long model. Building the engine wil be the most difficult part without drawings, nothing looks like the real material than the real material so am thinking of getting the main bits cast / machined in aluminium. Hope this answers your questions. carbuilder2002 |

Not Gulf specific but there are some nice interior and under-skin detail shots in the gallery of the long-tail Lark here. |

Re: 1995 Gulf Cars
Try the Donnington collection,
They have a 1/5 95 Gulf GTR in the entrance area, which will give you some where to start from. All though the detail is not brilliant, also there are some pics of the model somewhere on the web. |

Have you looked at the Michael Cotton McLaren GTR book? Pretty pricey but they turn up on Ebay sometimes. |
