I have been thinking of getting a big brake kit by stoptech. The problem is that the kits are expensive as hell. Are they really so much better than just changing the pads and discs for some high performance ones?

Re: Big Brakes vs. high performance pads/discs
If I have money I go with Brembo, I saw those big brake it on most factory car, subaru wrx, and even on some BMW, I love the way it look, If you want stop power and for look for big brake kit ( Brembo is my favore ). Since I think my car already have big brake on it
, save money for wheel or dsmlink.

Re: Big Brakes vs. high performance pads/discs
Are you planning on road racing or autoX? If not, its wasted money IMO. I would definately go with some 2g AWD "big brakes" if you can get them onto a FWD, but I think the huge brembo units are vast overkill for anything short of a serious road/autoX racer. Plus getting bigger rotors adds to the rotating mass and moves the rotational center (I think thats the right term I cant remember physics was a long time ago) outward causing an extra drivetrain loss. Same thing with getting big rims.

Re: Big Brakes vs. high performance pads/discs
Like Thor said if you are looking to do Auto X or Road racing then yes StopTechs are awesome they have a great feel to them and they arent overkill.....I have driving dsms with both Stoptech and Brembos and the brembos were overkill like crazy....If you are just going to be drag racing then I would just get some slotted rotors and some ugraded pads. Hope that helps...

Re: Big Brakes vs. high performance pads/discs
well we did some research on brakes here at the dsm shop and you can use the vr4 calipers wich would be a large upgrade
