Does anyone have pictures of the F1 XPLM and F1 XP2?

Sorry i have more questions, I am trying to get a collection of images of at least one image of each of the F1 prototypes so far i have pictures of XP1 (early stages), XP3, XP4, XP5 and 56XPGT and i need these images to complete the collection, all help much appriciated!, thanks Brad

There is a lot of useful information and pictures already floating about on this forum ; use the search feature would be first point of call if you are new on here - it helps you to get to know the car, know the people and know the website.

About 75% of the LM photos you will find are of XP1LM. If you have a question about which car is in a photo, simply post it and most here will know.

You'll have a difficult time finding photos of XP2 as not many have been released and it seems that after the crash test that car was destroyed. Here's a few showing it at MIRA before and after that test:

What hurst suggests is a good idea. Take a good look through the forum if you have not already as there is a ton of great info hiding in here already. 98% of the photos I have shared here are still hosted, so you shouldn't find too many red X's in my posts.

Basically it's knowledge of the history of those images. To break it down a bit:

I know that the photos of LM3 are that car because I know where they originally came from. The car's previous owner also confirmed the shots were of LM3 as well.

In Photo D you can see two things which conclusively identify that car as XP1LM. The first of which are the 4 small circular vent holes in the quarter window on the side - none of the production LMs have those. The second is the "XP1LM" decal seen on the trailing edge of the rocker panel. Photo B is sourced from McLaren and featured in "Driving Ambition". Since they still own XP1LM it seems obvious that's the one they used, but in larger versions of that photo you can see logo on the rocker panel again.

Poleton your knowledge astounds,

I thought all LM's had the one piece side windows but those pics show a car with the split side window.
I know the vent holes in the 1/4 windows were in the GTR's but thought they were also carried over to the LM's but apparently only the 1st.

Always wondered how owners of cars with the one piece windows deal with toll booths lol. Mind suppose they dont have that problem very often.

The split side windows are optional and can be added/removed at any time. The solid windows are included with the LMs as well.

Yes, safe to assume the LMs are not normally driven, so probably not a huge issue. At most toll booths I'd imagine opening the door would be required, even on a standard road car if you're by yourself.

Of course what friendly toll booth operator wouldn't want to come out to get a closer look at an F1?

I can imagine my local toll booth operators sneering down at an owner and saying look at that rich git lets watch him struggle.

Mind guess I would live with the inconvenience and not give a damn about holding up the rush hour traffic.
