06 TDI New owner Questions

We just purchased a White Jetta TDI, Very happy. The car is very quite and drives great.
On all of my other cars I normally take care of the oil changes, minor stuff....
Can any one tell me how to drain and or change the fuel filter. I am wanting to know for future reference.
Anything special I need to know about the oil change procedure. I normally use Mobil One oils in all of my vehicles. I was thinking of using the dealer for the first few oil changes then doing them myself.
BTW. We purchased ours from the dealership in Tulsa, Oklahoma. No add on's or additional mark-up. Thanks to Brad Noe Autoplex we were able to afford to purchase the car.
06 TDI, Automatic, package one. White with dark interior.

Re: 06 TDI New owner Questions

The oil change is pretty straight forward. You need to make sure you use the right VW approved oil. Mobil 1 is NOT an approved oil. I have only found it at the dealer and online in a few places (impex.com) its not very cheap, I use an oil extracter on my 2006 TDI so I don't have to jack up the car and crawl under it. The oil filter is changed from the top. Good luck, we really like our TDI especially the fuel mileage.

Re: 06 TDI New owner Questions

Thanks for the info. We now have about 1500 miles and have ejoyed the car. I purchased a quart of oil from the dealer and a spair fuel filter to have just in case.
MPG so far 30-32 around town, 37-44 on the highway.
Thanks

Re: 06 TDI New owner Questions

Ok, update:
At 3600 miles I added 250ml (about a quarter of a quart) of oil to bring it back to the normal range.
Mileage is avg about 36mpg for total miles/gallons.
This car is a really nice car. No problems, Tight driver.
The wife has told me she no longer wants to drive a car but she wants a SUV. She has taken over my suburban.....arrrrrrrr....
O well, the burb just sat in the garage unless we were going on a trip.
