Accessories/Turbo question

Ive been doing a lot of searching but I cannot seem to find any seat covers for my 3000GT. I want one of those neo ones. Anyone know somewhere to go? Oh and I was thinking of doing a single turbo conversion for my car. I know a lot of people have done it, about how much horse would I get. or would it not be worth it? thanks.

Re: Accessories/Turbo question

Single turbo conversions take a lot of money and talent. I know a guy in austin who has finished his with a huge Garret 65mm turbo, and that thing hauls ass. It's just not very streetable. Unless you want to spend a lot of money to get as much power as a VR-4, I'd stick with the N/A for now. Plus, the turbo conversion would probably give you some mechanical problems down the line, and those tend to be expensive on our cars.

Re: Accessories/Turbo question

oh ok, thanks. I really want to upgrade my car, not only in performanc but also in appearance. It is hard to find 3S sites dedigated to, for instance, getting a wood grain or brake light conversions. Do you know of any, I will keep searching......

Re: Accessories/Turbo question

Um, not many people put up sites on small cosmetic conversions. Generally the few dedicated enough to make a site for their 3S are more into maintaince/performance. However occasionally you can find some. Try searching stealth316.com links or doing a search on 3si.org/forums

As far as a single turbo conversion, it is impossible to say how much hp you will get because there are soooooo many variables. Which turbo you use, what supporting mods, what fuel you plan to run, etc.....
Basically it would have to be a completely custom job, you would need to fabricate or get someone to fabricate all the manifolds and piping for you. It has been done, but generally it is one of those things where if you are asking...it probably isn't the option for you. You may want to consider a supercharger or a TT conversion, they are a bit more straight forward and covered in hte FAQ or you can do a search.

Re: Accessories/Turbo question

alright thanks. The reason I asked about the accessory thing is because I saw (on 3sx) one of the members 3kGT had very cool brake lights, and even though I love these cars I dont particulary like the back ends. Ill go through those sites, thank you. As far as performance would it be better just to get a custom exhaust, ud pulley, K&N airfilter, headers, and not worry about trying to force induction?

Re: Accessories/Turbo question

I just got a call back from the shop that is checking out the car. It has low compression in one of the cylinders. I know this is bad but not sure how bad, what could it be? Fuel injector or head gasket is what I think.

Re: Accessories/Turbo question

as for little cosmetics on our cars, here's a guy who does custom LED work for the tails and he also dabbles in HID retro-fits. http://www.latenightcustom.com/

i know there's another guy out there who's a member on 3si who is working on some DOT legel LED tail lights, but can't remember his site.

Re: Accessories/Turbo question

But what about seat covers? I briefly remember some guys VR4 on cardomain that had 3000GT seat covers, seems like there are none online though...

Re: Accessories/Turbo question

seat COVERS? don't know of any 'covers' per say, but you have the option of getting new seats or getting leathers to cover the seats. the leather seats mod is described in the FAQ stick thread. new seats, aka racing seats, can be found anywhere.
