Engine Trouble

ok, quick question....I ask because quiet frankly, I don't know a whole lot about engines....

Ok, I've got an 85 MR2 Supercharged....and it's got roughly 200,000 miles on it....now at the moment I can't afford to get an engine rebuild, and in all actuality, I'm having a bit of trouble finding someone who will rebuild it. But, I had a friend that came over and took a look at my engine and they said that I need to replace spark plugs and wires, a new rotor cap, either get a new alternator belt or have it tightened(it squeaks everytime you start it until you give it a bit of gas) and also need to buy some smokeout. But here's what went unanswered....it seems like my car has trouble getting enough gas to first gear and reverse....my girlfriends dad said that I need to find out if its fuel injected, then buy a new fuel pump...he said he wasn't sure though....sounds right to me but does anyone here know if thats correct or not? I know I could take it down to firestone or checker or whatever, but if I know what's wrong with it all I have to do is buy the parts and my girlfriends dad can fix it for me. Any and all help is appreciated.
