Alternator on 96 jeep GC
im trying to figure out the amps of the stock alternator on my 96 jeep grand cherokee. for when i can hook up my Hifonics BXi-2006D amp and im wondering if i will need a new alternator or not. ive heard SUV's have strong alt's stock. it has the 5.2 V8. also is it going to be safe to wire my 15" tumult down to 1 ohm with a average battery and stock alternator? im wiring my big 3 tomorrow. im just trying to get everything ready to go my amp wont be here till the 19th.

96 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 5.2 L 135k miles.Flowmaster muffler/mangaflow cat I wrecked it about a month ago. damage is the front end passenger side. i have 3 good 80% tread 30" wild countrys bought from les schwab. (4th one poped due to accident.)I also have brand new (still wraped in plasitc) front/rear bumper covers. the grey ones. also a brand new chrome grille.let me know if you need something. it will be going to the junk yard in a few weeks so hurry

the only thing i can chip on is upgrade the battery if you bump with the vehicle off. the stock battery can be pretty wussy on Jeeps from what i've seen.

If your alt is like my it should say on the alt how many amps...the one for my 4 cyl VW Golf pushes 90 so I would think your larger one for your jeep would push maybe 120 or more.

i've read that a Red Top is more for car audio in the sense that it will hold a charge a little longer. A Yellow Top holds a charge and then gives you more of the charge when you go to start the car.
Yellow Top - starting the vehicle Red Top - when vehicle is running. sorry it's pretty unclear but i'm workin on only 2 hours of sleep here.
