Intercooler Piping

Guys check it out - never pass up a good buy :-P

http://www.chrisstorer.com/turbo

I bought Ben Davis's intercooler piping from his sentra (for my 97 200sx) and it was rusty as a mug - look at the before and after pics.... took me about 5 hours of bead blasting - a little polishing - then a 5 dollar can of 1000 degree heat resistant paint by Rustoleum and viola! nice looking pipes! lol
Later
Chris
(still high from the fumes - man)

Be sure to bead the ends of the pipes. Ben didn't do that. While on the street I understand he didn't blow off couplers, on the track he blew them off constantly.

You can have a bead TIG welded onto the end or you can make a bead using epoxy. I used epoxy. It worked quite well. Check out the following site and look for their info on beading IC pipes. You'll have to strip the paint off the ends to make the beads and then repaint.

The pipes are looking the part now :sun:
Man, thats a lot of pipe Im curious, doesn't all that extra volume in the pipes and intercooler add to turbo lag?Surely it must take a little time for the turbo to pressurize it all.

I saw Ben's IC piping when it was rusted and it looked like shit. Ben Moses's 92 turbo blows IC piping pretty frequently on the street too.

LOL - I do a little hear and there - that's my uncles place.... I've helped him do the whole setup down there (note the huge ass PCV wrapped in copper wire for the vac system) He just bought a friend that passed away's entire BASEMENT full of tools much like his own - so needless to say I'm short on money again and running out of room in the garage :0

My uncle is much like me and into a lot of different things - he had all the stuff to do those pipes nicely as he is restoring some classic chevy's
He has:
1937 Chevy - hot rod putting a LT1 in it
1947 Chevy Fleetline - 100% orginal frame off resto about 80% done
1948 Chevy Fleetline - Parts car
1948 Chevy Fleetline - Needs some paint but drives :-p

So the rust on those pipes was NOTHING compared to some of the stuff we pulled off those cars!

You into wood working? If so I can get some deals on some VERY nice equipment (Like I said he bought that basement full o' stuff and lots of it is duplicate)
