Turbos With 944s

I was wondering- is it possible to put a turbo into a 944 S? What needs to be done? what will need to be changed? and around how much it will cost to get everything. (not including labor because we can do it ourselves)

Piece of CAKE !!!

Make sure you buy ALL of these other parts too:

After all, why re-invent the wheel when it's already been done before. At a minimum, you'll need the following 951 parts to convert a 944NA to Turbo:
$900 - headers
$300 - crossover pipe
$200 - turbo wastegate & dump pipe
$400 - KKK turbo K26/6
$250 - turbo coolant-pump, piping and coolant tank
$500 - turbo/engine-mount, oil-plumbing and oil-pan
$500 - exhaust downpipe, catalytic-section & cat-back
$600 - airbox & air-flow meter (AFM) & J-pipe
$500 - intercooler & pipes
$300 - intake-manifold & throttle-body
$100 - Turbo injectors
$300 - Turbo head
$350 - Turbo cam
$500 - Turbo forged pistons for lower 8:1 compression
$250 - Turbo forged con-rods
$700 - Turbo DME/KLR computers
$100 - Turbo wiring harness

Eventually, you'll have bought the entire package piecemeal as the 944NA parts wear out, and quickly too... Within a year, you'll need:

$1000 - Turbo complete brake package
$900 - Turbo suspension
$1500 - Turbo rebuilt transmission (don't ask how much a new one is)

Here's photo of what happens to a 944NA tranny after it's been used in a 951 for a year:

Ok, so you can save a little by leaving off the really unnessecary stuff like the front nose-panel, rear wing/valance and those little side-skirts.... But then again, wouldn't you really want people to know that you have a Turbo?

He wants to turbo the 16V S engine... I would recommend the S2 or 968 engine... there are aftermarket parts for those, I'm not sure about the original S.

BTW, the 3 liter turbo is a monster, 500hp is not uncommon, with 450lbft!
