chevy in a stang??

I have recently purchased a 1983 crossfire 305 engine out of a corvette. My question is, could this engine possibly be put in my 1996 mustang?

anything is possible with enough fabrication. the only question is why? the ford 302 is WAY better than the gm 305. thats a fact. the 281 (4.6l) is also better than the 305. if you were going to do a swap like that why not put a good chevy engine in it. but it shouldnt happen regardless because it sacreligous. all the ford guys will make fun of you for it, and the chevy guys might too.

305 do suck! If it was a 327, then you would be on to something, but not a 305.

Re: chevy in a stang??

Putting a 305 in a Mustang is stupid as hell, if you're gonna get a Chevy engine atleast get a decent one. I would just get a 302 or 351 though.

Yes the engine will fit, but it is not LEGAL anywhere in the US except for at a Race Track. You can put a newer engine into a old car, but you can't put a older engine into a newer car.

Otherwize I'd have a Ford 460 sitting under my hood.........

You can however place and older engine in kit car and you can have any production car listed as a kit car if it is modified beyond original chassis recognition.

Re: chevy in a stang??

They never made much power and they really don't have much potential for power the way a 302 or a chevy 350 do. Just because it was in an IROC Z dos'nt make it good.

Word.

But dropping a 305 or 302 small block into say a little beater... like my '93 Subaru Impreza shitbox, now that would be freakin cool!
