What socket to use to remove caliper bolts?

I am attempting to get loosen/remove the caliper bolts so I can replace the rotors, then the pads.

What size socket do I need for the two caliper bolts? I keep trying both standard and metric but neither seem to grip well.

Frustrated.

Unless it is different on a 2000 Alero, the caliper bolts should be 12mm. Try a good quality, name brand 12 point 12mm socket. If that doesn't work then maybe they were bunged up in a previous brake job.

Re: What socket to use to remove caliper bolts?

Just did an upgrade on my 2000. Put on Cross-drilled rotors and good pads. Use the 12MM socket, but you will also need an open ended wrench to hold the inner part of the bolt near the rubber boot of the bolt. I used a 15 or 16mm.
