97 Jimmy Driver Power Seat Not Working

My 1997 jimmy driver power seat went out today. For the past year the seat has been moving very slowly back and forth. Most of the time I had to help the seat move back and forth by sitting in the seat and pushing with my legs while I hold the switch in the direction I needed.

I have heard electrical and motor could be the problem. Because of the previous problems, I am leaning towards the motor. Any idea how much it might costs to repair the problem?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you all!

Re: 97 Jimmy Driver Power Seat Not Working

It could be the motors from what you describe. Do you have the lumbar adjustmnt? Does that still work? If not then it could be a bad electrical connector.

One of the major problems in our trucks is that the seat wires runs right under the carpet where our feet go. So the salt and water from the winter soak in and eventually corrode the wires, the weight of our feet grind them down as well.

Remove the seat nuts, tip the seat back. Find an old cigarette lighter plugs (lets say from an old cell phone or something) Cut the end off and splice it to the seat harness (the lubar one, same circuit) and see if the see works then. If so, you know it's bad wiring, if not then you know it's a bad motor.
